Every year, the Prajapati/Kumhar community organizes a grand two-day fair at the Shri Sariya Devi Temple premises (on the banks of the Jawai River) in Sumerpur.
People from the Prajapati community of Sirohi, Pali, and Jalore districts gather in traditional attire to worship their deity and proudly showcase their art of pottery-making.
Highlights of the Fair

- Collective celebration: Hundreds of Prajapati families join in prayers, rituals, and cultural activities.
Why is this Fair Special?
This fair is not just a religious event but a festival that strengthens the community’s identity and traditions.
- Community identity: Collective worship and rituals enhance unity and brotherhood within the society.
- Preservation of tradition: The age-old art of pottery and associated customs are passed down through generations.
- Cultural recognition: In modern times, when traditional crafts are fading, such fairs highlight and preserve the Kumhar community’s heritage.
